The Best Winter Season TV Shows To Watch

There's no better time to watch TV than when it's cold outside. Unfortunately, good winter programming can be a little harder to find than it is during the other seasons of the year. There are still some great shows out there though.

There are probably some shows that you've never heard of, or simply ones that you didn't think you'd enjoy. If you give them a chance after watching an episode or two, I'm confident that you'll begin to watch them regularly.

Here are a few of the better shows I've encountered during the 2010 winter TV season so far. I'd recommend watching any of these.

The best original programming might be on ABC right now if we're talking about sitcoms. I don't know if you've ever heard of Better Off Ted, but this show is a winner. Taking place in a corporate setting, it pokes fun at all of the nuances that come with office life.

There's a lot of sarcasm and wit in the show's humor, and most who watch the show fall in love with it after an episode or two. Critics seem to agree that this may be the funniest show on television right now.

A new series on TNT that's caught my eye is Men of a Certain Age. This show boasts an impressive cast that includes Ray Romano, and it's a great mix of comedy and drama about some middle aged men coming to terms with their lives.

The writing is both funny and dramatic to the point where it pulls you in and you feel a real connection to the show's characters. I would definitely recommend watching this too.

Lastly, these shows are more well known at this point, but both Jersey Shore and The Real World on MTV provide an entertaining dose of reality drama if you get a kick out of this genre. You'll never know what happens next with each crew, as every week is full of unexpected action. - 29772

According to some reports the two singers have been working on two new songs together and might even release a studio single.

In 2009 Robbie Williams made a successful comeback to the music business after a few years away from the limelight. Robbie Williams is out of contract with his record label is considering alternative methods of funding his next record. He has asked city bankers to buy shares in his tour and album and hopes to make enough money to be able to increase the investor's money from the deal.

If the reports are to be believed then the two tracks will appear on the re-release of the second Leona Lewis album. The album has been planned for re-release as Leona Lewis has recorded the track for one of the highest grossing movies of all time, the 3D movie Avatar. Some reports are even suggesting that Robbie Williams will appear with Leona on her tour in the summer of 2010.

Not only is Robbie in-demand with a singing superstar but television's Mr Nasty, a.k.a Simon Cowell has admitted that he would love Robbie Williams to become a judge on the reality TV show X-Factor. Williams has said in press interviews that he would actually consider becoming a music judge on the show. Simon Cowell constantly tries to re-invent the show to keep it fresh and it is thought that Robbie Williams would help bring a star draw to the event.

Singer Leona was propelled to fame when she won the X-Factor competition. She has since gone onto have huge success in the USA and the UK charts. The collaboration between her and Robbie Williams could prove to be a goldmine for Simon Cowell. UFC 102 Highlighted By Couture/Nogueira Bout

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira left a lot of questions unanswered in the wake of his UFC 92 loss to Frank Mir. He had been dominated in his defeat to Mir and in the process suffered the first stoppage of his career. At UFC 102 from the Rose Garden in Portland, Oregon, Big Nog made a compelling case that his loss to Mir was a definite aberration as he dominated a determined Randy Couture over three rounds.

Nogueira received a respectful welcome from the Rose City crowd, but nothing like the rousing ovation afforded local hero Couture. Couture lived in suburban Gresham, Oregon for a number of years and trained at Team Quest before leaving to start Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas.

Despite the lopsided outcome of the fight, The Natural gave his fans plenty to cheer about. Though hes no longer able to outwork opponents and earn victories, hes still an amazing physical specimen for a 46 year old man. Furthermore, he still has the amazing toughness and resilience that made him a legend. He was knocked down twice, and came close to being choked out in each of the three rounds.

Couture in no way embarrassed himself, but he never really threatened Nogueira either. The former PRIDE heavyweight champion looked every bit his old self, displaying a formidable standup game to compliment his top of the food chain groundfighting and submission skills. After the fight Nogueira expressed his respect for Couture and appreciation for the Portland fans before politely calling out current heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar.

In the co-main event, Thiago Silva demonstrated why hes considered among the most underrated fighters in mixed martial arts as he dismantled Keith Jardine. After a feeling out process, Silva perfectly countered one of Jardines kicks with a nasty straight right hand. He followed up with a quick ground punching barrage before the referee called a halt to the fight early in the first round. - 29772

Jets Back In Win Column With Win Over Oakland

The New York Jets and rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez found a sure fire cure to their recent struggles-a game against the lowly Oakland Raiders. Sanchez passed for--3 yards and a touchdown, plus added a rushing touchdown as New York thumped Oakland 38-0 in the largest regular season shutout win in franchise history. Oakland quarterback JaMarcus Russell continued to struggle, and he passed for just 61 yards with three interceptions before he was benched in favor of Bruce Gradowski. The Jets improved their record to 4-3 while the Raiders dropped to 2-5.

NFL football betting enthusiasts who took the Jets as -6 road favorites had smooth sailing throughout the game for an easy pointspread cover. The Jets improved to 4-3 against the spread while the Raiders fell to 3-5 against the number. The 38 points scored went OVER the posted total of 34. Both teams have gone UNDER in four of seven games this season. Oakland failed to score a touchdown for the 15th game in the past four seasons.

It was such an effortless game that the only thing that Sanchez had to apologize for was surreptitiously eating a hot dog near the end of the contest:

"I want to apologize for that. I wasn't feeling very good and didn't eat much before the game, so I was feeling a little queasy. Toward the end of the game, I probably should have eaten one of those bars or something, but someone offered a hot dog, so I grabbed it and tried to be discreet about it, but obviously not discreet enough. So I shouldn't have done that, and it won't happen again."

Sanchez praised the defense for making his job easy:

"It makes it so easy on the offense when your defense is playing like that. Hats off to them, they had a heck of a game to shut that team out. I don't care who we're playing, that's a big-time accomplishment for our team."

Jets' coach Rex Ryan was very pleased with Sanchez's performance:

"Sanchez was great. He was just smart with the football. I think sometimes he could have put the ball on a receiver, but he was making sure the ball wasn't intercepted. It was great to see him respond."

Raiders' defensive lineman Richard Seymour, who boldly predicted the team would make the playoffs despite their slow start, was singing a different tune after the rout:

"I don't think we could have beaten an Oakland high school team today."

Despite Russell's struggles, Oakland coach Tom Cable remains committed to him as the team's starter:

"I thought he was really out of sorts early in the game. I just did not feel like at that point he gave us the best chance to have the success we needed to have offensively and made the move. JaMarcus will continue to be our starter. There is no issue there."

The Raiders will try to bounce back this weekend in a big rivalry game on the road against the San Diego Chargers. They'll then enjoy a bye week before back to back home games against the Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals. The Jets host Miami this Sunday. They'll also have a bye week to look forward to before returning to action at home on November 15 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. - 29772

Raiders Stun Eagles For Second Win Of NFL Season

The Oakland Raiders scored the only touchdown of the game in the first quarter and then prevailed in the kicking duel that followed en route to a--9 upset of the visiting Philadelphia Eagles. Much maligned quarterback Jamarcus Russell played his best game of the season despite two interceptions, throwing for 224 yards and a touchdown. It was only the Raiders' second win of the season, and only the Eagles' second loss. Oakland now stands at 2-4 while Philadelphia slid to 3-2.

NFL betting enthusiasts who backed the Raiders as a whopping +14 home underdog were never in any trouble as Oakland took the lead late in the first quarter and never relinquished it. Oakland evened their mark against the NFL pointspread at 3-3, while the Eagles dropped to 3-2 against the number. The 22 points scored went well UNDER the posted total of 40'. It was the Raiders' fourth UNDER in six outings, while it was the Eagles' first UNDER of the season against four OVER verdicts.

After the game, Raiders' coach Tom Cable said for the first time all season his team focused their intensity in the right direction:

"We went out and threw a fight on somebody and said, 'Enough. Let's play. That's all you can say. There's no magic words or anything like that."

Last week's 44-7 loss to the New York Giants may have served a wakeup call to the Raiders. In particular, they were offended by comments made by Giants' linebacker Antonio Pierce that the game 'felt like playing a scrimmage'. Raiders' wide receiver Louis Murphy didn't dispute the comments but instead took them to heart:

"That gave me extra fuel. You have to look yourself in the mirror and man up. His comments were true. We played flat. We didn't play with any emotion. This game was totally different. We took those comments to heart."

The Raiders' defense received the bulk of the credit for the victory as they pressured Donovan McNabb all day, sacking him six times. The Eagles became the first team in three years to not score an offensive touchdown against the Raiders. Richard Seymour and Trevor Scott each had a pair of sacks, and Scott had the following observation:

"I'm sure they watched the Giants game and thought we were sorry. But all week coach Cable talked about persevering and forget the past and move forward so we can get to where we want to go."

After the game, McNabb had little to say:

"I'm embarrassed by the way we came out here and played. We're a much better football team."

The Raiders will try to put together an actual winning streak as they host the New York Jets next Sunday. Oakland is a +7 home underdog with the total set at 35. They'll play their hated rivals the San Diego Chargers on the road the following Sunday before a bye week. Philadelphia will play the Redskins at Washington next Monday night. Tokyo was the next to go, before Rio got the nod over Madrid in the final round of balloting.

Bookmakers offered odds on the host city choice, with Rio listed as second favorite at +200. Chicago had been the wagering favorite at most books, particularly after President Obama got involved personally in the US bid effort. Chicago was bet as high as a -300 favorite, while Madrid and Tokyo were priced in the +250 range. Some suggest that Tokyo didnt deserve to have such short odds, but was the beneficiary of regional pride from the notoriously enthusiastic betting population of Japan.

Since a 2003 decision loss to Ryan Ackerman, Torres had run off 17 straight victories including his most recent triumph by decision over a tough challenge from Japanese striking machine Takeya Mizugaki.

Bowles quickly announced his presence with authority rocking Torres with an overhand right and scoring a takedown within the first minute. After a groundfighting sequence, the two fighters exchanged punches again and initially it looked like Torres was getting the best of things as he landed a multiple punch combination that sent Bowles backing up. Almost out of nowhere, however, Bowles countered with a perfectly placed short right hook that sent the champion to the canvas. He followed up with some nasty ground and pound punches including a big left hand that knocked his opponent unconscious and forced the referee to wave off the fight.

In his postfight interview, Bowles sounded unsurprised by the outcome. His comments indicated that hed been very well prepared for Torres considerable skills and though he conceded that hed been stung by the punching barrage waited for the opening to throw the right hook that ended the fight. Bowles displayed considerable class in victory, and Torres conducted himself in a matter befitting a champion as he accepted the defeat.

A rematch between Bowles and Torres is almost inevitable, but theres plenty of talent in the WEC bantamweight division. The semifinal bout on the card pitted two of these competitors in what may have been an elimination match for #1 contender status as Dominick Cruz handed feisty Joseph Benavidez his first professional loss via unanimous decision. The unorthodox and insanely athletic Benevidez had a good deal of trouble with the superior height and reach of Cruz. Benavidez managed to give a good account of himself, but in the end the physical disparity along with Cruzs repeated takedowns and sharp striking skills spelled the difference in this matchup.

Further muddling the picture in the bantamweight division was an earlier fight on the card, in which Takeya Mizugaki outlasted Jeff Curran to win a split decision victory. Mizugaki had trouble with the active guard of Curran, but scored takedowns in all three rounds. He did enough from the top position while fending off submission attempts to earn the verdict and to make his claim for #1 contender status. - 29772

In the Heart of the New York Catskill Mountains, there is a place called Nicks Waterfall House. I have been there many times and it has become one of my favorite places of all time to ride to.

There are times when the stress of our lives and jobs can get even the best of us a little down. If you are a straight lace citizen you go to a Doctor and get some pills or maybe see a shrink. If you are a Biker you hop on your Motorcycle get the motor running and you head out to a place like Nicks Waterfall House.

It does not matter where you are or what direction you come from. The ride threw the NY Catskill Mountains is going to relax the stress away from the depths of your very soul. As you ride to Nick's threw long winding roads up over and into the heart of some of the worlds most majestic Mountains, with the Sun shining down on you and the fresh Mountain air filling your lungs you will start to get a feeling of what one can only describe as pure joy.

As you get near Nicks Waterfall House located on Route 990v, Gilboa New York 12076, either alone or with a group of friends. You will feel as if time and space are no longer a factor in the Universe, and it only gets better from there! As you ride in the first thing many think is they have reached some old time lost resort, but have no fear Nicks is a Biker bar.

When you walk threw the front door you will no longer have any doubts you have arrived at the right place. If Nick is not there to great you himself, there is a good chance he is in his large kitchen cooking up some classic Biker grub. I recommend the first thing you do is order an Ice Cold Beer and go sit by the large windows over looking a Waterfall that looks as if it was stolen from the year--92. If there is any stress or negative emotions left in your body after the ride to the Waterfall House after only a few minutes watching the water fall down and roll over the rocks it will soon have all washed down stream.

Then it is time to meet the locals, grab another Beer and maybe some of that great food (My favorite is the Waterfall House Cheeseburgers) or maybe shoot a game of pool. The crowd at Nicks is a mix of friendly Bikers, locals and good ole boys. This is a place to exchange stories and Adventures from the road. Often the sharing of stories can go on for hours.

It is easy to have what some may call too much fun at Nicks Waterfall House but with rooms up stairs starting at only $25 a night, there is no reason to worry! Now I want to make sure that you know when I tell you there are rooms at Nicks you understand these rooms where created for road weary bikers. If you bring your old lady with you make sure she is a real biker Chick because Nicks is no Yuppie bed and breakfast! It is a real bikers, biker bar and what you get when you rent a room from Nicks is a communal living room a bed to sleep in and a shower to wash off the road dust! One other thing you get from a night at Nicks is a renewed Spirit of Adventure and a willingness to face what ever maybe up around the next bend in your life!

I have many local Bars that I think of as home and I love to go to and cut loose, but when I hear that call of the road it is often telling me it is time to go to Nick's Waterfall House!!!

A New Experience In The New York Nightlife

This past summer I had the opportunity to visit New York City several times. I have a friend who was working for an airline and was able to get free flights to New York. Well, as a true friend, I had to take advantage of this. Sometimes we would go over for the day or for the weekend.

We loved to shop there. They have way better store than my home city. We also loved to find the most random restaurant and order the most disgusting thing on the menu and see if we dared to eat it. Another thing that we found pretty fun was the night life. There are so many clubs and bars in New York. The night life is incredible.

One night, though, we spotted a huge line outside a hotel. Curious, we asked someone in line what they were waiting for and they told us about the rooftop bar on top of the hotel. We hadn't ever tried something like that before, so we quickly got in line.

Once we were inside the club we headed out to the balcony and stood there in awe. North of us stood the empire state building, highlighting the incredible skyline. It was hard to believe we were actually three. This was easily going to be the best night of my life.

When you visit New York there are a lot of bars you could try out, but this rooftop bar was easily one of the best ones I had experienced. Between the atmosphere and the beautiful skyline this was a great evening that will be hard to replicate.

We tried out a few more rooftop bars after that, but none of them quite had the same view or feeling that the first one did. We really should have taken more pictures, though I think they have a photo gallery on their website. Of course, that will never do it justice.

Without a doubt, putting a bar on top of a hotel right in the heart of New York City was a great idea. The whole place was really classy, and clearly everyone knew it. There were a lot of patrons, and all of them came dressed really nice, and the ladies were all completely gorgeous!

I'll never forget that trip to New York. It was only a shame that my friend wound up losing his free flight privileges, because that means I'll have to start saving my money if I want to make it back to that incredible rooftop bar. - 29772

Japan MMA Flashback: Aoki Dominates JZC At DREAM 2

After a controversial no contest in their first matchup, there was no doubt as to the winner of the DREAM 2 rematch between Shina Aoki and JZ Calvan. Aoki controlled the fight from the opening bell and used a wide repertoire of submission attempts to keep his opponent off balance. Most impressive was Aokis dominance of the ground game, which many observers considered to be JZs edge in the contest.

Aoki scored early with a takedown and controlled Calvan on the ground, working a heel lock attempt before taking his opponents back and attempting a rear naked choke. In the second, Aoki put on a submission clinic and demonstrated his ungodly flexibility as he spun from an armbar to a triangle choke and back again. Calvan was able to counter or escape, but looked completely out of sync as he generated almost no offense whatsoever.

Aoki was very emotional in his postfight speech to the crowd. JZC had grumbled about the no-contest in their DREAM 1 matchup, and the one sided decision made him even more dejected in his postfight press interviews.

With the victory Aoki advances to the semifinals of the lightweight GP tournament. Aoki has made some statements in the Japanese press leading up to the fight that win or lose there would be no way hed be ready for the next round with only half the preparation time as the rest of the field. Hopefully the impressive victory and the enthusiastic response from the holiday week Tokyo crowd will change his mind.

The rest of the card was devoted to the opening round of the middleweight GP tournament. Taiei Kin defeated Minowa-man Ikuhisa Minowa in a very closely contested and entertaining fight.

Korean judoka Yoon Dong-Sik also advanced with a unanimous decision victory over Shungo Oyama. Two one sided contests followed, with Zeleg Galesic submitting Magomed Sultanakhmadov via arm bar in a minute and a half of the first round. That was followed by the MMA debut of former Pac 10 wrestling standout Ian Murphy, was dominated by BJJ specialist Ronaldo Jacare - 29772

What Lessons You Can Learn From The King Of Pop's Last Moon Walk

The King of Pop, Michael Jackson, has been widely known for his popular moon walk. It is a dance step wherein he has been associated with. Wikipedia defines the moon walk as "a dance technique that presents the illusion of the dancer being pulled backwards while attempting to walk forward."

I thought about this meaning and came to realize that there is a stark similarity between Michael Jackson's life and his popular moon walk. This post will attempt to bring about the morals we can learn from the similarity. In no way am I attempting to degrade Michael Jackson and his achievements but will only focus on the moral side.

Gaining over 750 million purchased records, winning 13 Grammy Awards, and reaching the no. 1 spot 13 times with his singles, Michael Jackson became the most successful entertainer of his time. Not including his music catalog, which is supposedly worth more than a billion dollars, the King of Pop's lifetime earning was estimated to have reached more than $ 500 million dollars.

Even though he had gained so much fame and fortune, which he achieved since he was young, the end part of his life was mostly filled with struggles of depression and of financial debts. Many would readily agree that his health further declined when he sequestered himself from his family, friends and financial woes. Millions of people have come to love him since he was young, but despite the outpouring of love, he died filled with loneliness, a broken heart and depression.

With the circumstances mentioned above, I want to refer to the King of Pop's end part of his life as his last moon walk, because, instead of showing maturity in his life as he grew older, he became more immature as he aged. Consequently, unlike the moon walk, which was only an illusion, the circumstances that happened in his life were very real. Below are three morals we can learn from the end part of Michael Jackson's life.

1.) Try living within your pay grade - In spite of the millions of dollars Michael Jackson earns every year, his extravagant lifestyle forces him to spend more than $ 20 to 30 million above what he earns. His display of extravagance has caused him to be in so much debt that certain well known persons, including a Bahrain Sheik, blamed him for his inability to pay what he owed. This incapability resulted to his losing of his valued Neverland Ranch. While his assets still have greater value over his debts, he still died owing $ 400 million. Even if Michael Jackson had the right of living extravagantly, he should have been wise enough to live within his pay grade and made an effort of taking care of his finances. His inability to live within his pay grade brought about so much financial problems that he got more depressed.

2.) Trials abound and life is tough, so learn to face them - No matter how much success he had in his life, Michael Jackson, has never learned to face trials in his life. Whenever gets demoralized by problems, he would run away and instead use drugs, detach himself from reality or hide himself through plastic surgery. Once problem that worsened his life was when he was accused of child molestation. He became more withdrawn after it. In an article written for the Daily Mail, J Randy Taraborrelli has this to say about how Michael Jackson face problems, "He surrounded himself with children, animals and a false reality - so much so that he never learned how to cope in the real world. He never wanted to grow up, and his managers encouraged these eccentricities when they should have encouraged therapy."

3.) True happiness and joy never came from fame and fortune - Despite what the records and others say about Michael Jackson's successes as an entertainer, it cannot hide the fact that his last days in earth was not filled with satisfaction and peace. Yes he may have broken records, evolved the music industry, pierced through racial barrier or gained the love of millions of fans around the globe but he died with so much depression, the feeling of unloved and unhappy. His is isolation from his family and friends did not even help him at all but in fact worsened his problems.

Michael Jackson's last moon walk bears so many morals in life. I could have said more but it is your turn to do your own analysis. I pray that in the event we will have to do our last moon walk here on earth, it would be much better than Michael Jackson's. - 29772

Helio Gracie: Father Of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Gracie family patriarch and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu pioneer Helio Gracie died in early 2009 in Rio de Janeiro at the age of 95. Its impossible to overestimate his influence on martial arts, and particularly his pathbreaking role in what is now the sport of mixed martial arts. The Gracie family name will forever be synonymous with Brazilian sports, jiu-jitsu, MMA and the UFC"not only due to Helios own accomplishments but the legacy he created both by training others and through his family.

Helio Gracie began his training in mixed martial arts early, and by his teenage years was already teaching judo. While he had no problem mastering the theoretical aspects of judo, he found that many of its techniques were less effective for a practitioner with a smaller build. Along with his brother Carlos, Gracie began to work out his own fighting system by adapting many of judo's techniques and making them more a product of leverage rather than brute strength. This led to the creation of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), frequently called Gracie Jiu Jitsu in his honor.

Gracie also had a professional fighting career of his own, taking on champions from other fighting disciplines in an early version of modern MMA. These bouts were arduous, unregulated affairs with arbitrary rules and no time limits. By his own recollection, Gracie fought 15 times against the top opponents of his time. He began his career in'32 by submitting professional boxer Antonio Portugal in just 32 seconds. Later that year, he fought American catch wrestler Frank Ebert to a draw after the ringside doctor ordered the bout stopped after an ungodly fourteen ten minute rounds.

Gracie's most famous opponent was against legendary Japanese judoka Masahiko Kimura. Gracie fought bravely in a losing cause, and ironically may have enhanced his reputation in defeat. He refused to submit to a reverse arm bar (the move that is now known as a 'kimura' in honor of its inventor), and the fight ended after his brother Carlos threw in the towel after Helio's arm had been broken.

Gracies influence on the Brazilian sports scene, and later the nascent sport of mixed martial arts, would continue through his family. Married twice, he had seven sons (Rickson, Royler, Rolker, Royce, Relson, Robin and Rorion) and two daughters (Rerika and Ricci), many of whom went on to make their own mark on the fight sport world. Royce Gracie is well known as the first UFC superstar, while sons Rickson Royler, Renzo have also achieved considerable fame in professional MMA. At the time of his death, Helio Gracie was a 6th Dan Judo black belt and the only living 10th degree master of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Gracie died at age 95, after suffering stomach problems though the cause of his death was officially listed as 'natural causes'. His last words are classic and highly fitting for a man who gave so much to martial arts and fighting sports:

Gracie's last words are as follows:"I created a flag from the sports dignity. I oversee the name of my family with affection and nerves of blood. - 29772

The One Where The Monkey Gets Away: Rachel finds out Barry is engaged to Mindy, her former bridesmaid; she begins to show interest in dating again, so Ross decides to ask her out. However, before he gets the chance, she loses Marcel while monkey-sitting, which temporarily drives a wedge between them. Mr. Heckles is missing a waffle and saw Regis Philbin once. Rachel, not knowing Marcel is a illegal exotic animal, calls Animal Control; the animal-catcher turns out to be Luisa, who went to high-school with Monica and Rachel. Luisa's memories of high school aren't favorable toward Rachel, so she decides not to cut them any breaks. While looking for Marcel, Joey and Chandler meet some hot girls (Samantha and Tia) with a broken radiator. Luisa tries to shoot Marcel with a tranquilizer but hits Phoebe instead. A delivery of bananas leads everyone to Mr. Heckles apartment; he claims the monkey as his own until Luisa shows up. Rachel pleads with Luisa to let Ross keep Marcel, but it's only the threat of reporting her for shooting Phoebe that convinces her. Ross and Rachel finally sit down for some wine, but before Ross can ask Rachel out, Barry barges in, saying he's still in love with her.

The One Where Rachel Finds Out: Joey participates in a fertility study, but things get hard when he has to avoid intimacy with Melanie, his new fruit-basket-making girlfriend. The gang has a barbecue, but Ross only shows up long enough to drop off Rachel's birthday present and announce he's going to China to get a bone for the museum. Later, while Rachel opens her presents, Chandler lets slip that Ross is in love with her; she goes to the airport to catch him before he leaves, but just misses him. While he's gone, she debates what to do do. Finally, she decides to go for it and goes to the airport for his return. Unknown to her, however, Ross has become involved with another woman during his week in China. - 29772

The Story Of'77 Triple Crown Winner Seattle Slew

Seattle Slew died on May 7, 2002 at the age of 28. One of only 11 winners of horse racing's prestigious 'Triple Crown' he is by default considered among the all time greats in thoroughbred racing. Of the eleven horses to win the Triple Crown, he is the only one to do so with an undefeated record. He was also notable due to his humble beginnings, and is the only Triple Crown winner to have been purchased at public auction. He retired to stud in'78 and sired over 100 stakes race winners including'84 Kentucky Derby champion, Swale. Slew's offspring have earned a combined $76 million dollars at the race track. Slew wasn't the most majestic looking creature by the lofty standards of race horses, but was possessed with the heart, toughness and courage of a professional prizefighter.

The Seattle Slew story began very modestly at a public auction in Lexington, Kentucky. The Keeneland Summer Yearling sale wasn't supposed to be the marketplace of champions, and the idea that this particular horse would ever amount to anything other than a farmhand was downright laughable. Slew looked clumsy, due primarily to a right forefoot that splayed outward and resulting in a shuffling gait at a trot. He also wasn't a majestic beast like his predecessor by a few years, Secretariat. Slew was borderline ugly. So ungainly a creature was he that he was given the less than inspiring nickname "Baby Huey" by the Keeneland staff. He was purchased by two couples (Karen and Mickey Taylor and Jim and Sally Hill) for $17,500. What wasn't apparent at the yearling sale was the intangibles that make up a championship thoroughbred--poise under pressure, love of competition, toughness, heart and desire. The Taylor's and Hill's had stumbled onto an equine Tiger Woods or Michael Jordan who's competitive fire quickly became apparent to the trainers that worked with him and the jockeys that rode him. His first race came at Belmont in'76, and the three races he entered--and won--as a 2 year old gave a hint of what was to come.

As a three year old, he quickly gained notice by winning his three Derby prep races, including the prestigious Wood Memorial. In the Derby, Slew got off to a terrible start as he stumbled from the gate much like War Emblem did in the 2002 Belmont. Unlike 2002's Triple Crown contender, however, Slew was able to recover from that miscue and basically force his way through a pack of other horses to position himself at the front of the field at the quarter mile pole. He went on to win the Derby by a length and 3 quarters. Another tough victory in the Preakness set up his Triple Crown winning run at the Belmont, which he won by 4 lengths.

Slew continued to campaign as a four year old, but in the days before the Breeder's Cup there weren't many opportunities for an older horse. He retired to stud in'78, where he sired champions such as the aforementioned Swale and'92 Belmont Champ AP Indy. Slew stood at Three Chimneys Farm in Midway, Kentucky from'85 until early 2002 when he was moved to Hill 'n' Dale Farm in Lexington, KY following a spinal operation.

In some ways, Slew had much in common with the heavyweight championship reign of Larry Holmes. He came so quickly on the heels of such incredible excellence--Slew was forever in the shadow of'73 Triple Crown winner Secretariat, Holmes on the heels of Muhammad Ali--that he never gained the appreciation he deserved during his prime. In hindsight, however, it has finally been noted what an exceptional horse he really was. Jockey Angel Cordero, who rode Slew during the twilight of his career noted "If I had a chance to take any horse in the world, if someone said your life is depending on riding one horse to win, I would take (Slew). I rode 44,000 horses, but he was special, he was different. He was muscled, like a wrestler. He ran different than any other horse. It was like he came from another planet."

After his death in 2002, Slew was buried at Hill 'n' Dale Farm in Lexington, Kentucky under a statue in his image. - 29772

Understanding The Differences Between CFL Canadian Football And The NFL

While football in the United States is associated with crisp autumn days and cool nights, in Canada professional football begins in the summer time. While NFL training camps won't open until mid-summer by then the Canadian Football League (CFL) will be well into their regular season schedule.

The CFL is almost as old as the NFL, coming into existence in'30. The league's Grey Cup championship trophy is even older, having been awarded to the best Canadian professional football team since'09. There have been a number of NFL stars who got their start in the CFL including Doug Flutie, Randall Cunningham and Jeff Garcia.

While the CFL plays football at the highest professional level of competition outside of the NFL, there are a few differences in the game:

First of all, the football itself is bigger--the CFL ball is larger than its American counterpart. If you know anything about rugby, its roughly the same as a #3 rugby ball meaning it is somewhat longer and fatter than the NFL ball. The CFL field is also longer (110 yards) and wider (65 yards vs. the NFLs 53.5 yards), and the CFL end zones are 20 yards deep as opposed to 10 yards in the NFL. The CFL goal posts are on the goal line, while the NFLs are on the end line at the back of the endzone.

Teams have 12 players on the field at once as opposed to 11 in the NFL. On offense, the extra player is a receiver, on defense a defensive back. And unlike the American game, where teams have 4 downs to move the ball ten yards the CFL has only 3. Maybe the hardest thing to get used to when listening to CFL broadcasts is the frequently references to teams going two and out. There are a few other subtle differences as well"teams only have 1 time out per half, only 20 seconds between plays, and all backfield players can be in motion prior to the snap (as opposed to only one in the NFL).

There's also a significant difference in the way the game is scored. The first time many US fans see a CFL score update reflecting a 1-0 game they're usually left scratching their head in confusion. CFL teams are able to score a single point, known as a "single" for a kick that lands in the end zone such as a punt or missed field goal.

The rule differences also extend into the front office, where teams are required to have a certain quota of their roster be Canadian born. In an effort to prevent the CFL from becoming an NFL farm system, and to protect the unique identity of Canadian football' of the 40 players on the roster must be natives.

Many US football fans look at the rules that include more players, a wider field, and fewer downs meant to encourage more passing and expect to see a wide open high scoring style of play similar to Arena Football. That's not really how it works out--most games end up with final score totals in the 40's, but the game itself really isn't much more offensively oriented than its American counterpart. The rules may be different, but as in the NFL you need a solid rushing game and a stout defense to win games and championships.

The requirement of native born players making up 50% of a CFL roster also results in a much more even distribution of talent across the league. Certainly there are good teams and bad teams, but the end result is greater parity than is found in the NFL.

The CFL isn't in a financial position to draw the top level US players away from the NFL or, in most cases, even a NFL practice or developmental squad. While some US players are uniquely suited to the CFL style of play, most of the US players that end up there are of a similar talent level as to that seen in Arena Football.

The bottom line is that despite the rule differences and personal quotas the CFL game is still football and can be enjoyed the same way. Once you understand the unique attributes of the Canadian game youll start to enjoy it almost as much as the NFL.

While they still don't receive coverage on ESPN, the Internet affords access to the sports media of every CFL city along with the national Canadian sports media at sites like Slam! Sports. It is of utmost importance to be absolutely honest about your game. The Pro will ask you what you think you need to start with: driving, chipping, putting or whatever you feel you need help with.

Listen to the Pro golfer very carefully and follow the Pro's advice. You may have concerns if the Pro changes your stance, your grip or your swing, but honestly, the Pro does know what is best.

Please don't hesitate to ask the Pro golfer any questions you may have and don't worry about whether your question or concern may sound silly - they've heard it all before and will not make you feel like a fool for inquiring. If you don't understand, tell the Pro that you do not get it. You should never walk away from a lesson with unposed questions.

For example, a course of lessons might be to concentrate on one thing during a lesson, or on several things. You might begin with a lesson on driving; get the grip, the stance, the swing and the follow-through right in one lesson and then practice it 'for real' for a few weeks until you feel that you've got it more or less right. Next time, you might decide you need help with your short game, or putting.

Minnesota Loses First Game of Season

Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings are undefeated no more. The Pittsburgh Steelers' used a couple of big plays from their defense in the fourth quarter to break open a close game and defeat the Vikings by a final score of 27-17. Favre put up decent yardage in the loss, throwing for 334 yards but had no touchdowns and an interception. The defending Superbowl Champion Steelers improved to 5-2, while the Vikings are now 6-1.

NFL pointspread players who backed the Steelers as -6 home favorites were rewarded with the cover. Pittsburgh had only covered one of their first six games heading into the contest, and the win improved their record against the number to 2-5. Minnesota dropped to 4-3 against the spread with the setback. The 44 points scored went UNDER the posted total of 46'.

The Steelers largely shut down Minnesota's rushing game, holding Adrian Peterson to 69 yards. Pittsburgh safety Ryan Clark underscored his team's dominance against the run:

"That's the biggest point of the game. You have the best running back in the world and you don't give it to him. They're saying they can't beat us running, and that's a major statement when you have the guy they have back there."

Favre gave a feeble justification for the loss in his postgame interview:

"There were a lot of what ifs, a lot of reasons we didn't win. The red zone was one of them. They're physical, and they were as good as we thought they'd be. ... When I came here and looked at our schedule and saw the Steelers game, I went, 'Oh-h-h.' "

Favre has only thrown three interceptions in a Vikings' uniform, but #3 was a costly one as it was returned by Steelers' Keyaron Fox for a touchdown to put the game out of reach as Minnesota was driving for a potential game tying field goal. Afterwards, Fox recalled the play:

"Brett tried to force it in there and the running back bobbled it and slipped out of his hands and it fell into my lap. I had just run across the field after Peterson and I was winded, so it felt like it was 100-plus yards."

The Vikings now face another big game next week as they head to Favre's old stomping grounds in Green Bay for a battle with the Packers. It'll be Favre's first appearance at his old home in an enemy uniform. The Vikings will then have a bye weekend before hosting the lowly Detroit Lions on November 15. Pittsburgh will enjoy a bye week this week before returning to action on Monday, November 9th facing the Denver Broncos on the road. - 29772

On July 15th, former WWE superstar turned MMA fighter Bobby Lashley announced that he had signed a deal to return to full time professional wrestling competition with the US #2 promotion TNA. Lashleys last in-ring pro wrestling appearance came in Mexico on a show for Lucha Libre promotion AAA.

Hes not planning to give up his MMA career. Lashley trains in Florida with the prestigious American Top Team, and ran his record to 4-0 with his victory over Sapp in late June. A press release issued by TNA this morning further validated his suggestions that he planned to do both sports. Lashey himself is quoted as saying:

I want to do both because I can. TNA is giving me the opportunity to compete in both sports which I have a passion for. I will bring MMA fans to wrestling and wrestling fans to MMA

TNA President Dixie Carter noted:

This is a great opportunity for Bobby to do something that has never been done before. He is the perfect ambassador for both sports. We are excited to have him join TNA, he is a true star that brings so much to the table as a member of our roster.

Despite TNAs claims that Lashley is the first active MMA fighter to compete full time in pro wrestling, that's not the case. Its very common in Japan, where fighters frequently compete in shoot fights like MMA while simultaneously appearing in worked (eg: pre-determined) pro wrestling contests. In fact, Josh Barnett, originally slated to face Fedor Emelianenko at the ill fated Affliction: Trilogy event still makes several appearances a year for Antonio Inokis Inoki Genome Federation (IGF) promotion. Following his positive drug test in California, he may spend ore time in pro wrestling. Lashley isn't even the first to pull the feat in the US, though hes definitely the highest profile fighter/wrester to turn the trick since MMAs overwhelming boom in popularity. Dan The Beast Severn at one point simultaneously held the UFC heavyweight title and the NWA heavyweight title in pro wrestling.

Lashley's departure from the WWE in early 2008 was very sudden and remains largely unexplained. He indicated at the time that his departure was not of his own volition but due to circumstances beyond his control. Interestingly, Lashley wasnt subject to a standard non-compete agreement. Speculation at this point suggested that he may have left in response to a racial incident, a theory given more validity when WWE writer (and former member of the Fabulous Freebirds tag team) Michael Hayes was suspended for a racial slur. Neither Lashley nor the WWE has ever confirmed the reason for his departure.

At the time he was released from the WWE, Lashley began training for MMA building on an extensive background of amateur wrestling from both college and the military. When you see them, they still look as two people who have just met and never give the impression of having been together for a while.

They met in a club for those that don't already know. According to Lala, Melo was asking their mutual friend DJ Clue about her for some time. After a while, they were both in the same club and Melo spotted her and went up and started talking with her. From there, they became friends, which progressed into a relationship.

The year after they met, Melo asked Lala to marry him on Christmas day. In 2006, Lala found out she was expecting their first child. On Wednesday March 7, 2007 their baby boy was born. They named him Kiyan.

I have been active in the Motorcycle Community for many years. I've stood up for Biker's Rights. As a freelance writer, I've written about Clubs, the Community, and the Brotherhood of the Biker World. I've also been involved in many Biker related events either as a DJ or MC.

For as long as I can remember, I've wanted to combine all of this into a Biker Style Radio Show. A show where I could present and discuss topics that are important to Bikers as well as educate the outside world about the Biker Lifestyle and what it means to be a part of the Biker Community.

I knew it was going to be tough. I spoke with some local radio stations about my idea but, they either wanted a lot of money or they weren't interested. They claim that the "Biker Market" is a niche market and Radio Stations want shows that appeal to everyone.

In the summer of 2008, a guy from Florida called the Paisan, sent me an email stating he had read some of my articles and would like to interview me on his internet radio show, Sunday's Sauce Pot. I gave him a call and after speaking to him, I agreed to be on the show.

I did the show with Paisan and his partner Danny Dawg. It was an unforgettable show and I had a great time. I kept in touch with them and we soon became friends. I told them how I had been thinking about doing my own show. They were only too happy to explain to me how I could have my own internet radio show.

Since the show would be broadcast over the internet, I was a little skeptical. After doing some research, I realized that Internet Radio is an up and coming medium. Even now, some radio manufactures are making radios devoted to broadcasting Internet Radio.

I quickly realized that Internet Radio is more suited to what I wanted to present than traditional Radio due to the fact that I could broadcast my show to all over the world instead of being limited like I would be if I broadcast out of a local station.

The other thing that appealed to me was the fact that people could listen to my show any time they wanted to. Bikers like to travel. With Internet Radio, it doesn't matter where you are as long as you have access to an Internet Radio or Computer and WI-FI or broadband, you can catch the show. The fact that you didn't need a lot of money to start up was also very appealing. With a little help from my friends, I went to work. Finally, after 10 years of dreaming, I was On the Air. The Biker Lowdown Show was born.

The road to success was a little bumpy at first. With the addition of Chuck (Alphabiker.com) as my co-host, the road got a little smoother. With both of us researching information, we are able to share much more with our ever increasing audience. The addition of a website to compliment the show adds to the experience. The hard work of my webmaster Bjorn has resulted in a website that offers Articles, Video's, a Motorcycle Forum, and more.

I am sometimes amazed by the success of the show. Our Audience continues to increase each week. The Biker Lowdown Chat Room gets busier each week, letting listeners know they are really part of the show. Although we've come a long way, we're still working hard at making the show even more entertaining and informative for all those who ride or dream of riding. We plan on hitting the road so that we can meet and talk with people and reward our listeners with T-Shirts, Bumper Stickers, and more.

Denver Moves To 6-0 With Win Over San Diego

The Denver Broncos are for real. The NFL's most surprising undefeated team certainly answered any remaining doubters on Monday Night Football as they used a fourth quarter surge to put away the San Diego Chargers 34-23. Denver upped their record to 6-0 while San Diego dropped to 2-3. Broncos' QB Kyle Orton had another solid, mistake free game as he passed for 229 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions. Denver's special teams also excelled, with Eddie Royal becoming only the 11th player in NFL history to return a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns in the same game.

NFL football sports betting fans that backed the Broncos as +3 road underdogs were rewarded with the outright victory and Denver continued their season opening undefeated run against the pointspread (now 6-0 ATS). The Chargers, meanwhile, have only covered one of their five games this season. The 57 points scored went OVER the posted total of 44'.

Royal was virtually untouched on both of his kick returns, a first quarter 93 yard kickoff return and a second quarter 71 yard punt return. After the game, he gave credit to his blockers:

"I think our guys did a great job of blocking and giving Eddie a chance to get started."

"It doesn't matter who you are playing; you give up two big returns on a punt and a kickoff and it makes it tough"

Chargers' QB Phillip Rivers talked about the loss and the team's slow start to the 2009 NFL season:

Denver will get a week off to enjoy their 6-0 start before returning to action on November 1 at Baltimore. The following week they'll host the defending Superbowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football before traveling to Washington, DC to face the Redskins. San Diego will play at Kansas City this weekend. Benson amassed 189 yards rushing and led his new team, the Cincinnati Bengals, to a 45-10 rout over the visiting Bears on Sunday. Carson Palmer threw for five touchdowns with no interceptions in the blowout victory.

The Bengals also made short work of the NFL pointspread, easily covering as +1' home underdogs. Cincinnati improved to 4-3 against the number while Chicago evened their ATS mark at 3-3. The 55 combined points sailed OVER the posted total of 42'. The Bengals have gone OVER in four of seven games this year while the Bears evened their NFL totals mark at 3-3.

A smug Benson described his feelings after the win:

"Everybody knew it was going to be an emotional day. Everybody knew. What a wonderful day and a wonderful thing, to go out there and strut your stuff."

Despite the evidence to the contrary, Benson downplayed the motive of revenge:

"I continue to be as graceful as I can be. I'm not shoving anything in anybody's face. Like I say, it wasn't a revenge day for me. I just wanted to take advantage of the opportunities."

He said his biggest problem was trying to keep his emotions in check:

"There were a few times where I may have gotten a little too hyped up, a little too antsy. A couple of drives, I found myself having to calm myself down and gather my emotions to stay poised. Once I got past that, we were good to go. Keep it rolling."

Bengals' receiver Chad Ochocinco had 10 catches for 118 yards and two touchdowns. He shared his thoughts postgame:

"I don't understand why it went this way today and why it didn't go that way last week or the week before that. The offensive line played unbelievable. For Ced to run the way he did today and for us to be able to throw, we could have done what we wanted to do."

Down 3-1, Pittsburgh tied the game late in the third period as Ruslan Fedotenko and Alex Goligoski each lit the lamp with less than three minutes remaining. After a scoreless overtime period, Sidney Crosby scored the only goal of the shootout to give the Penguins an improbable 4-3 victory. It was the 9th win in ten games for Pittsburgh, who are a perfect 6-0-0 on the road. Columbus lost for the fifth time in six games.

NHL hockey betting enthusiasts cashed wagers on the road underdog Penguins, but on the moneyline at +117 and the puckline. Pittsburgh has gotten off to a great start this year, going 11-2-0 in the first month of the season. Columbus is struggling to stay above .500 at 6-5-1. Some people may think otherwise, but in truth learning to play the guitar is pretty easy. The only thing that you need to do is learn where to start, and the proper place to start is by learning the different parts of a guitar. There aren't that many parts in an acoustic guitar, so we'll go over them fast:

1. The biggest part is the body. This is where all the sound comes from, and it emits those sounds through a hole that is carved in the center. This is also where the strings run through from the neck of the guitar.

2. Next there is the bridge. What is the bridge? It is right behind the hole, and the strings are attached to it. This part is usually made out of wood, at least on most guitars.

3. Then there is the neck, which is on the other end of the guitar's body. The neck is on the left, and is long and skinny. The guitar strings go from the bridge all the way to the top of the neck to the tuning keys.

4. In order to make different notes and sounds with your guitar, you need to place your fingers behind the frets. The frets are the golden bars running across the neck, and there are normally twenty four of them.

5. The nut is a rather important part, and it is a divider that is placed in between the neck and head. It is grooved and keeps the headstock from moving during play.

6. Next there is the headstock, which is the topmost section on the neck. This is where the tuning keys are situated.

7. Tuning keys are the metal tabs which you'll see on the headstock itself. This is where the other end of the strings is situated, and you can use the tuning key to change the tone. This is usually referred to as keeping the guitar tuned.

You have now been filled in on the various parts of an acoustic guitar. The next part of course is to learn the right way to hold this instrument, and if you keep reading you're certain to find out!

For right handed players: Begin in a sitting position, and raise one of your knees just a little bit. Put the guitar body in such a way that you are holding the neck to the left. Take the neck with your left, and then put the pick in your right. This is a decent posture, and one suitable for playing the guitar. If you need to, you can always use a strap.

If you are not right handed, then you are obviously left handed, and there is a specific way to do that as well. You need to make sure that you are comfortable first of all, and because of that you are free to sit in any way you want. When it comes to choosing a projection or TV screen, the first consideration is the kind of screen you want or even may need. If the room where you are setting up your home movie theater is large, then you will need to have a home theater projection screen or maybe you just want to go down that route anyway.

I, personally, like the idea of having a drop-down screen, but sometimes you have to have one even in a modest home theater. It converts your living room into a home theater: you recline in your chair; click a button and a screen drops down; click a button and the lights dim; click another one and the movie begins!

However, if you prefer a television screen, then you might consider buying a new one. They say that a 27 inch screen is big enough, but I do not agree. I really think you need 48-60 inches, but then I am a 50 something year old and my eyes are definitely not what they were.

If you are buying a new TV for your home theater, I think you should aim high. HDTV is upon us and since February 2009 the USA is committed to High Definition. So, I would make sure that your new TV is capable of receiving it. Then I suggest that the new home theater screen be a flat one to reduce the annoying glare that could ruin the experience. (This could be another reason for opting for a projection screen).

Then you should ensure that your new television has enough input and output plugs for the equipment you plan to use and you're done. Therefore, to summarize, I would choose:

At least a 27 inch screen

A flat screen

HDTV enabled

Sufficient input and output sockets

Satellite enabled

Many of you out there probably do not know that I L.J. James am the Son of Pappy (Freelance writer on the Biker Lifestyle) ! Hell I didn't know till'86,Well I knew I just didn't know him! Pappy an my Mother got separated when I was young and I didn't see Pappy from around 76 till 86. When I met him he wasn't even known as Pappy yet! That came later.

I had lived with my Mother an step-Father on Long Island in NY till the Summer of 86. I had always been into Bikes and the life style. Many times after getting into some kind of trouble I would hear the saying "He is just like his Father". Little did I know at the time just how true it really was! After getting into some more teenage trouble (you know the deal Drinking,Staying out late, getting brought home by the cops 2 or 3 times). My Mother figured it was time for me to meet my Father. So in the Summer of 86 at the age of 15, I found myself flying up to Rochester NY to meet my Father!

When I first met Pappy He owned a large House and He rented out rooms in the house to College kids and other Bikers. Almost as soon as I got there Pappy started teaching me to Ride a Motorcycle and probably just as important if not more, what the words Respect, Honesty , Loyalty and Brotherhood mean in the Biker World. I still remember clearly one time at a John Fogarty Concert. Me, Pappy and a few other Bikers where in the parking lot looking at Motorcycles. I saw this really cool bike with this paint job that was just unbelievable, I went to touch it and Pappy grabbed my hand looked at me in the eyes and told me "Never touch another mans Bike without his permission" and till this day I never have.

The House Pappy owend was well known by many of the Bikers in the area and was the place many large party's where held, It was not uncommon to find a bunch of Bikers sleeping in the living room any given morning. These Bikers where family to me and when they said "He is just like his Father" it gave me a feeling of over whelming pride! I have always loved hearing the stories these true Brothers of the biker world would tell me. I feel the old Biker stories need to be saved and told over and over again.

New Motorcycle Riders are learning about Biker history from old'60's Biker Gang movies that have no historic truth to them. Just like with any culture if you lose your true history you lose what you really are! I feel the only way to return the Biker world to its true origin is to keep the old stories alive ! Too many "Bikers" complain that the younger Motorcycle Riders of today have no idea what it means to be a Biker! Well I think maybe the problem is that some of the older Bikers never really knew what it meant to be a Biker, Because if they did they would know its their job to teach the next generation! A new Motorcycle Rider must know what the Spirit of Biker Brotherhood is before he can truly feel it and become a part of it. (Maybe that's part of why I became a writer?)

I said at the Beginning of this story Pappy was not yet known as Pappy and I would tell you how that came to be. Well if you remember the Summer of 86 you will remember the Karate Kid Movie was a Big Hit and was on HBO like 10 times a day,Well as far as I could remember I had never called anyone Dad or Father or anything like that. In the Karate Kid they called each other miyagi san and Daniel san! Well thinking I was clever I started calling my Father "Pappy san", He in turn started calling me Son of Pappy and soon after everyone started calling Him Pappy!

Now many of You maybe wondering why the Hell am I telling you all this. Well like I have said there are many Motorcycle riders these days that have no clue what Biker Brotherhood really is. I think it is important that they know this is not something you buy into, But something you grow into. Too many buy a Motorcycle and then do nothing but talk, They are only there for you if you have something to offer them. There are very few true Bikers left, Bikers are being replaced by Motorcycle enthusiasts and part of it is our own fault! I write this story in hopes it will help spread the word that only the true old School bikers can teach the younger generation the true meaning of Biker Brotherhood.

The San Diego Chargers bounced back nicely from their Monday Night Football loss to Denver last week, opening a 20-0 halftime lead before coasting to a 37-7 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. Chargers' quarterback Phillip Rivers passed for 268 yards and three touchdowns in the victory. Running back Ladanian Tomlinson ran for a season high 71 yards as San Diego evened their record at 3-3. The hapless Chiefs dropped to 1-6.

The Chargers easily covered the NFL pointspread as -6 road favorites. It was only the second pointspread cover of the year for San Diego, who moved their ATS record to 2-4. Kansas City dropped to 2-5 against the spread. The 44 points pushed against the posted total. Kansas City now has a NFL totals record of 3-2-2 to the OVER, while the Chargers have gone OVER in four of their six games.

After the game, QB Rivers suggested that the loss to Denver was a turning point for his team:

"Last week, we felt like we made progress. We had the attitude we were looking for, focus, but we didn't win. But we knew we got better."

Tomlinson broke off one of his most impressive runs of the year on the Chargers first touchdown drive, a 31 yard pickup that he said lifted the team's spirits and led to the easy victory:

We have seven weeks of football behind us, and things are slowly beginning to take shape in each conference. While there's no clear favorite in the AFC and the NFC, there are teams who've asserted themselves as forces to be reckoned with and definite contenders.

Let's look at each conference and determine who the favorites may be. This is all in good fun, and I could very well be wrong about both predictions.

In the AFC, it would appear that there are a few clear contenders. First of all, the Pittsburgh Steelers have bounced back from a disappointing start, winners of 4 straight and now 5-2. They have Troy Polamalu back and the fact that they beat the Vikings shows that this team is strong.

There are also the surprising Denver Broncos, though no one is fully ready to take them seriously yet. Don't forget about the Patriots either, playing some strong football.

In addition to these three teams, the Indianapolis Colts are right there as well. In fact, they may be the best in the AFC thus far, as the team has won its first 7 games. Peyton Manning looks as good as he ever has, and they're the team to beat.

As far as the NFC is concerned, the major story in this conference is the New Orleans Saints. This team has what may be the best offense in all of football.

Drew Brees may very well win the league MVP if his second half looks anything like his first seven games, and the defense has been effective enough to provide the team with enough of a cushion to win each of its first seven games.

Contenders to the Saints would be the Eagles, playing some great football themselves, and the Arizona Cardinals, coming off a big win in New York and winners of three straight games. The Minnesota Vikings and New York Giants are also obvious contenders as well, though their recent losses make the Saints the clear favorite thus far. - 29772

The Arena Football League Reaches The End Of The Line

After canceling their 2009 season, the Arena Football League has shut down entirely and appears headed for bankruptcy. Earlier this week, the league office released a short statement indicated that it had ceased operations because owners were "unable to reach any consensus on restructuring the league over the past eight months." The leagues statement continued that there are no other viable options available to the league right now."

Even before the decision was made to cancel the 2009 season this past December, it had been a tumultuous off-season for the Arena Football League. It began with the resignation of long time AFL commissioner David Baker just two days before the Arena Bowl championship game. Though Baker put a positive spin on his resignation saying that he felt it was time, the timing was curious despite his insistence that it was due to "personal reasons".

In October, the owner of the New Orleans VooDoo announced that the team would cease operations"despite being one of the league leaders in attendance. In announcing that the team would fold, owner Tom Benson (who also owns the NFL Saints) suggested that the end of the five year old franchise was in no way an indictment of the New Orleans market. Instead, he cryptically explained that it was due to circumstances currently affecting the league and the team."

At that point, uncertainty began to reign over the leagues future. A dispersal draft to reassign the VooDoo personnel was scheduled and postponed several times amid assurances from the AFL office that rumors of financial instability were unfounded.

The inability to get any consensus on a business model for the league reportedly served as the final nail in the AFLs coffin. A major problem was skyrocketing player salaries, and some sort of compensation system tied to team revenues was a necessity. A bigger schism was left between several factions of owners"primarily drawn along lines of overall wealth.

Despite the demise of the Arena Football League, it wont be the end of the road for the twenty two year old sport. known as The 50 yard indoor war . Arena Football lives on in the AF2 league which, ironically, was originally started as something of a developmental organization for the AFL. Fans of his will be fortunate enough to see one last performance with the King of Pop, as his new movie "Is This It" is now in theaters. This documents Jackson's final rehearsal performance, as he had planned on embarking upon a world tour shortly thereafter.

Michael Jackson was a class act, and he was in this movie as well. We got a glimpse of the King of Pop during his final days, and we should all consider this a gift as fans of Michael Jackson.

Amazingly, he still had the dance moves that he did in his prime, and his voice even sounded good too. He said that he wasn't going to go all out with his voice until the concert, but it really makes you appreciate where he was at during his final days.

This was an exceptional movie, as real as it gets. No Hollywood effects, simply real footage of the King of Pop during his final performance. I'd highly recommend this movie to just about anyone. - 29772

This sort of thinking can the a useful tool in the so-called 'pursuit of happiness' in respect to using it as a reflection of our own shortcomings and thus knowing what actions we can take in order to improve our own lives. This will take much out of us a and does take courage since it requires much self-criticism because without self-criticism there cannot be any self improvement.

If all we can do is criticize the subject in the picture, then in truth we are saying, 'Look at this flawed human being, who has problems and experienced obstacles just like me and was still able to transcend these obstacles and overcome them. Now, what exactly does this say about me?'

However if we look deeply enough we see all these ugly things but if we claw our way deep enough we also see the opportunities these very weaknesses present if we are are brave enough to take them on and focus our mind and energy in right direction. In the end it's all about right choices.

We can accept our mediocre and normal lives and see only this in the lives of those who have achieved and a simple coping mechanism or a crutch and thus we would not have to do any actual work. We can accept what we see as a pathetic existence and slowly fade away into oblivion, occasionally seeing someone who actually put some effort into doing something with their lives fall and get our empty joy from this like some gutless wonder and armchair achiever.

Alternatively we can recognise that there is always to do in our lives, and ore to accomplish. We can use the celebrity in the picture as an example of what can be done, what can be accomplished. Common Sports Betting Futures Mistakes To Avoid

Sports book futures bets are an increasing popular and potentially profitable way to wager on the outcome of a full season. There's a few common mistakes that novice players make that can be easily avoided by paying attention to the following:

Don't bet at the first place you look: In other words, shop around for the best price. This is essential to all aspects of sports betting, but especially important with futures wagers. You'll find more disparity between prices from book to book on futures than any other betting proposition. From a theoretical standpoint, a little work can yield much better value. From a practical standpoint, that means a higher payout should you win. The reason for this is that individual sportsbooks' aren't as worried about what the other guys are doing as they are with most other bets. Once the futures "market" is set books move the lines almost exclusively on their own financial position. The market simply doesn't respond as quickly to futures wagers as it does to individual game lines so it is essential to do the extra work to get the best price on your proposition.

Don't fixate on picking the winner from a competitive field: This may sound like strange advice, but from a theoretical standpoint it makes perfect sense. As with every other element of sport wagering its crucial to always focus not on winners and losers, but on the value you're getting on individual bets. For example, in most years there are several teams with a realistic shot of winning at the start of the NCAA basketball tournament. The problem is that these top teams invariably offer low paybacks that are less than their 'true odds' of winning. Every team is subject to the same variables like injuries, slumps, bad matchups but backing teams that are 'under the radar' at higher prices offer more compensation for these 'risks'.

In more theoretical terms, the 'true odds' of a Duke or similar top team winning the tournament are almost always higher than the price offered. Think of it this way--say we're betting Duke to win the national title at 2/1. This means that the Blue Devils would have to win more than 33% of the time to break even. So lets say, for the sake of argument, that we could play the tournament over 100 times. Would Duke come out on top more than 33 of these times? If not, they represent a poor value. Let's say that they win 30 of 100 times. This means that any price under +333 or thereabouts is a poor wagering value.

Note that the more competitive the market, the more difficult it is to find good value on a favorite. In a smaller field, or in a field with one dominant competitor it can be easier. For example, say the UFC were to have a tournament involving heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar and three male figure skaters. Even if Lesnar was slightly injured, or not at the top of his game he'd essentially have a 100% chance of beating the smaller, effeminate men who are untrained to fight. If a book installed Lesnar as a -1000 favorite in this spot, it could still be considered a good value. It's never easy to risk a lot to win a little, but from strictly a mathematical standpoint it makes sense.

Don't try to make a huge profit with little risk: Sports betting provides few opportunities to make a 'big killing'. It may happen occasionally, but even the big payouts when it occurs doesn't make chasing big longshots a good value. If you're serious about sports betting it is crucial to maintain your focus on the underlying numbers and look for value at all times. If you want to take a longshot at a huge jackpot, play the lottery but don't try to do it at a sportsbook.

Simply stated, the concept of value works the same at the bottom of the wagering ladder as it does at the top. Even if you're betting a big underdog at a huge price make sure that it accurately reflects the 'true odds' of the event occurring.

Don't bet one-sided futures or propositions: Though many of these are not futures per se, a lot of sportsbooks offer silly propositions on nonsport events as a way to get publicity, or just to be funny. Its important to make a distinction between this type of silly bet and more realistic nonsport propositions which frequently present good wagering value. Im talking the really outlandish stuff here. Not too long ago, a sportsbook posted a line on Martians landing on earth and painting the White House red by the end of the year. The "YES" was +2500 or thereabouts, which is far from reflective of the "true odds" of this unlikely event. Even if you're the type that collects classic Art Bell shows on tape and believes in UFOs you wouldn't place the probability of this happening at more than a fraction of a percent. The book only offered the "YES" side of the proposition, meaning that you couldn't lay even a huge price on the more likely outcome. Another book had a futures offering for what would happen first with Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore and Bruce Willis. All of the options were very unlikely--Ashton and Bruce fighting on PPV and my favorite--and the longest odds--Ashton, Bruce and Demi hopping in bed together and releasing a porno video documenting the event. You'd receive a sizable payback if any of the events ever transpired, but I'm not exactly sure how to compute the "true odds" on "when pigs fly. - 29772

Many fans of Michael Jackson will readily admit that his last 15 years or so were a far cry off from his glory days, and that he was never the same ever since falling from grace.

I don't blame the guy. He was under all kinds of pressure that I couldn't even fathom, and dealing with his success must have been a huge struggle.

Jackson's glory days occurred more than 20 years ago and while he's never been the same ever since, he produced some decent music earlier this decade. It was rumored that another album was in the works, but expectations were nowhere nearly as high as they would have been at his peak.

Still, people were always curious about the latest Michael Jackson news, fascinated with his interesting lifestyle and longing for more classics. The world mourned his death last summer, and fans and critics alike agreed that it was tragic.

Fans of his will be fortunate enough to see one last performance with the King of Pop, as his new movie "Is This It" is now in theaters. This documents Jackson's final rehearsal performance, as he had planned on embarking upon a world tour shortly thereafter.

You might be surprised to know that Jackson was phenomenal in this rehearsal, and the movie is truly a treat that any music lover should see. Jackson hasn't been seen like this in a long time, and the sight of him on stage is one that brings out the Michael Jackson of old.

Not only were his vocals great, but he danced like he was 30, despite his age of 50 years. He showed charisma, and more energy on stage than you would ever expect when you consider his otherwise weak physical state.

Golfing Etiquette Basics

Golf is a carefully balanced game of rules and etiquette, and it's very important to know the basics of golfing etiquette before you go on the course to play your first game of golf.

It doesn't matter whether you are playing on your own, in a twosome or in a foursome, golfing etiquette demands that you must always wait your turn. You must stay aware of the group on the next hole and wait until they are well ahead of you before hitting your ball.

Golfing etiquette also means that it is never cool to "push" the group in front of you. If you are playing with others, wait your turn to hit the ball and never hit at the same time as another player.

While you wait for your turn to play, go to your ball and determine which golf club you will need to use and how you are going to hit the golf ball with it. This is called "ready golf" and keeps the game moving along, but don't hurry everybody, just be ready for your turn to play.

Another nice piece of golfing etiquette, especially for the novice is 'playing through'. For example, if your team is holding up the players behind you, say because you are consistently over par, let them play through. You would simply wave them through, or if they are near enough, ask them if they would like to play through. You will never make an enemy by doing this!

When someone is taking a shot, you should be standing behind them and you shouldn't make a sound! It is so distracting to be ready to tee off and just as you draw back, someone decides to play with keys in their pocket or noisily unwrap a sweet.

Replacing divots. Let's say you are on the fairway and you strike the ball a bit thick and a clod of earth and grass goes flying, golfing etiquette says that you ought to repair the hole. On some courses you just put the turf back and step on it to keep it down, but on most courses, there is a sand/seed mixture on the course to put into the divot. Also, if your ball makes a deep impression when it lands on the green, you should use your divot tool to repair it.

As soon as you have finished a hole, replace the flag and leave the green as quickly and quietly as possible there may be another team teeing off at the next hole) so that the next players can play that hole. Add up your score and write it on the scorecard as soon as you get back to your trolley.

There is much more to golfing etiquette of course, but these simple essentials of golfing etiquette will enable you to get through the course without upsetting anyone. If we all keep to golfing etiquette we will keep the game friendly, or not? - 29772

Shoeless Joe Jackson, Hall of Fame Worthy?

It's amazingly been over 90 years since it occurred, but the legendary'19 World Series scandal most definitely lives on with baseball historians and any enthusiasts of the game. With much controversy these days about Pete Rose and his possible place in Cooperstown, another figure with parallels to Rose is Shoeless Joe Jackson, who played for the'19 White Sox (also known as the "Black Sox") for their role in throwing the'19 World Series against the Reds.

Shoeless Joe has some very impressive stats over his- year career. He is known for playing with the White Sox, but played with a total of 3 other teams, having played with ith the Athletics, Naps, and Indians for half a season. He posted very good standard stats that should alone be hall of fame worthy.

1772 hits, 307 doubles, 168 triples, 54 home runs, 785 RBIs, 519 walks, 158 strikeouts, and a .356 batting average.

This may not scream out obvious hall of fame, however, the .356 batting average would easily clear those standards in today's game. Here are some more impressive stats we can deduce by taking a closer look at his numbers.

9.4 walks percentage, 4.2 strikeout percentage, .423 on base percentage. 517 slugging percentage, and a .940 OPS. These are great numbers and H.O.F. numbers in fact.

Now let's get into the Black Sox scandal of'19. The White Sox faced the Reds in the World Series. The White Sox lost the series and Joe Jackson, and eight other players were accused of throwing the series. But Shoeless Joe stats show he did not play poorly. Do you think a .375 average and 12 hits (a world series record) is throwing the series? His fielding percentage in the series was 1.000, having made no errors.

I have researched that many say the Reds triples were hit to left field. Most of them anyway, and Joe Jackson was the left fielder. This is actually false. It is a fact that no triples were hit to left field in the World Series vs. the Reds. Now the only flaw in my thinking is that he received a $5,000 payment.

So he made a mistake. His actions indicate little (if any) foul play in the way of performance. Should he make it in? - 29772

Listen to the New Moon Soundtrack

Anyone who follows the indie rock music scene may have already discovered the New Moon soundtrack. I heard it for the first time a few days ago and I'd like to give a quick review.

Why would indie bands be willing to contribute to the soundtrack of a teen vampire movie series? I was really surprised to see this, as there's no way in the world I'd ever be interested in watching these movies.

You might be like me in this case. I had no idea what New Moon was, and it's probably because I have no connection to that demographic and I'm by no means interested in a show or movie about vampires.

Usually, the list of bands contributing to a soundtrack will match up well with the type of audience a movie draws in. In this case, it seems completely different. I'd more likely expect a lineup that contributed to a show like Gilmore Girls here.

Whatever their motives were for agreeing to do this together, the end result is pretty fascinating. I've found myself listening to this soundtrack quite a bit since I got it last week, and while I'll never see the movie, I'll definitely be listening to this some more.

There are more great bands on this soundtrack than just about any soundtrack I've heard within the last year or two. From Muse and Thom York to Bon Iver and St. Vincent, these are just a few of the many accomplished artists and bands on the New Moon soundtrack.

There's great songwriting, great guitar work, and a lot of music that basically sums up the current state of indie rock. I'm very impressed with this album on a whole, as are many well respected music critics.

Look past the production that they've created this soundtrack for, and focus on the artists. They've put forth their best efforts on this release. - 29772

The History Of Reno's Mapes Hotel

The Mapes Hotel in Reno, Nevada met its demise on Superbowl Sunday of 2000 when 75 pounds of explosives packed inside the structure's support columns brought it to the ground. The controlled demolition came despite years of effort by a number of groups within the community to preserve the building with lawsuits, redevelopment proposals, and grass roots lobbying efforts. The National Turst for Historic Preservation even took up the cause, challenging the destruction in a lawsuit that eventually reached the Nevada Supreme Court.

While the efficacy and justification of demolishing the Mapes is debatable, one thing that is not is the glorious history of the hotel. It was built in'47, and signaled the start of the modern era of casino gambling. Despite the notoriety of Bugsy Siegel and the Flamingo in Las Vegas, it was the Mapes that became the first building in the nation to have a hotel, casino and live entertainment under one roof. It also became the hotel of choice for celebrities staying in Northern Nevada. Clark Gable and Marilyn Monroe stayed at The Mapes during the filming of 'The Misfits'. Joseph McCarthy, America's famed anti-Communist crusader, admitted to a reporter over cocktails in the Mapes Lounge that he really didn't have a list of Communists in the US despite his frequent and vitriolic insistence to the contrary.

In the 50s and 60s it became, along with Lake Tahoes Cal-Neva Lodge the place to be seen in Northern Nevada. The top floor, window-walled Sky Room showcased performances by the legends: Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Jackie Gleason, Louis Prima, Mae West, Milton Berle, Sammy Davis, Jr., and the Marx Brothers among others. Subsequent years were not kind to downtown Reno but the Mapes continued to do well during the 60's and 70's. The hotel finally closed in'82, due more to financial difficulties experienced by the Mapes family caused by one of their other Northern Nevada gaming properties than anything else.

Reno has yet to experience the sort of growth that has been seen in Southern Nevada, and for that reason the destruction of the Mapes is more open to debate than the hotel demolitions to the south. Even the demolition of The Sands--perhaps the most historically significant casino in the state--is hard to argue against given the inability of such a small property to compete in the current Las Vegas marketplace and in light of the value of the mid-strip real estate.

That's not the case in Reno, where vacant land and/or buildings ripe for redevelopment are abundant downtown and in the other casino areas of the city. The official reason that the Mapes had to come down was that the city needed the land to expand its vision for downtown redevelopment. While this is certainly a much needed effort, to suggest that the existence of the Mapes was a barrier is absurd. In fact, many of the proposals rejected by the city would have gone a long way to enhance the revitalization of downtown Reno and included artists lofts, office space and other mixed used properties. Despite receiving a number of viable concepts for the Mapes Building, the City Redevelopment Authority rejected all of them and the Mapes was destined for demolition.

The role of the City Redevelopment Authority was questioned throughout the process. Overlooking the Truckee River, the hotel was on a prime location between the downtown casino area and the riverfront district. Back in'96, the city of Reno purchased the hotel and began entertaining proposals for renovation and redevelopment. A number of sound financial proposals were presented that would preserve the integrity of the structure including condominiums, office space, and perhaps most viable, upscale senior apartments. Oddly, all of these proposals were turned down by the citys Redevelopment Agency which eventually led to the demolition of the structure.

After the demolition of The Mapes Hotel, the lot remained vacant for almost a year until a temporary ice skating rink was constructed in the winter of 2001. The site now houses a permanent ice skating rink which, while not a bad use for the land, brings into question the insistence by the City Redevelopment Agency that none of the proposals to preserve the building were viable. Clearly, they had no specific plan or even general idea of what to do with the land but for some reason wanted to see the hotel come down. This has led to all manner of speculation, ranging from financial self interest to a rumor that the structure was 'haunted' and needed to be destroyed to forestall future paranormal activity in Washoe County. Whatever the reason, the city of Reno lost a valuable landmark of a more civilized era. - 29772

Buffalo Beats Struggling Carolina

Carolina Panthers' quarterback Jake Delhomme is having a season he'd like to forget, and things got even worse on Sunday at home against the Buffalo Bills. Despite dominating the Bills on the stat sheet, Delhomme threw three interceptions that allowed Buffalo to take a 20-9 victory over the struggling Panthers. Delhomme threw for 325 yards, though without any touchdowns. The Panthers dropped to 2-4 while the Bills improved to 3-4.

Buffalo rewarded NFL pointspread players with the outright victory as +7 road underdogs. The Bills have covered four of their seven games this season, while the Panthers have an awful record against the spread-they've only covered once this season for a 1-5 ATS mark. The 29 combined points went UNDER the posted total of 37.

The Bills' Terrell Owens was again a non-factor, but gave credit to the defense for earning the victory:

"You can't really complain about a win. Defensively, those guys are keeping us in ballgames."

Buffalo defensive end Chris Kelsay commended his team's performance on the road:

"Never once on the sidelines was there any doubt that we were going to win the game. Regardless if it's an ugly win over not, it's hard to win in this league."

Ryan Fitzpatrick started at QB for Buffalo in place of the injured Trent Edwards and was solid, if not spectacular. Coach Dick Jauron observed:

"He made the plays when we had to make them."

Panthers' coach John Fox has said he's going to're-evaluate' whether the struggling Delhomme should continue to start, and even the quarterback himself couldn't make an emphatic case that he should keep his job:

"In my heart, yeah, but I mean let's be honest, I don't think I'm a dummy. When you're not playing well offensively, you always have to look at the quarterback."

The Panthers' schedule doesn't get easier this week as they head west for a game against the improving Arizona Cardinals. Carolina is a +9 road underdog with the total set at 43'. They'll head south the following week to face the red hot New Orleans Saints before returning home on November 15 to take on the Atlanta Falcons. Buffalo will host the Houston Texans this weekend, with the game currently off the board due to injuries on both teams. They'll have their bye week after that and will return to action on November 15 against the Tennessee Titans. - 29772

Monica goes out with Chip, Rachel's high school prom date; unfortunately, Chip hasn't grown much since Lincoln High. Ross and Rachel continue to bicker about their break-up. Phoebe finds a cat and is convinced it's her mother reincarnated; a poster is found for a missing cat, but no one has the heart to tell Phoebe... except Ross.

The One With The Dirty Girl: Ross dates a fantastically beautiful paleontologist (Cheryl); everything is going great until he finds out she's incredibly messy. Chandler buys a rare copy of Kathy's favorite book for her birthday, but then has to make sure that Joey's gift is good, too. Phoebe lends Monica money so she can make a more serious attempt to get her catering business going; Monica has a little trouble collecting payment from a client. Rachel strives to finish a crossword puzzle all by herself.

The One Where They're Going to PARTY!: Phoebe and Monica buy a van (with a mural, flashing nipples, and other "extras") for their catering business; Monica fills in for a food critic in a small local newspaper; after she gives a restaurant a scathing review, they offer her a job as the new head chef; she has to chose between it and the catering business. Ross and Chandler make plans to party with Gandolf, the party wizard; Gandolf cancels and Ross and Chandler are left bored, until Joey convinces them that they can party themselves. Rachel tries for a new position at work, but her boss doesn't quite cooperate.

The One With Phoebe's Uterus: Frank Jr. and Alice have eloped, and they ask Phoebe to be a surrogate mother for them; Phoebe asks advice of her birth mother, who gives her a puppy for only three days so she'll know what it's like to give up something you love. Ross gets Joey a job as a Tour Guide at the museum; Joey is hurt when Ross won't sit next to him at lunch (the white coats don't sit with the blue blazers); this prompts Ross to stand up and make some changes in the cafeteria, but it works a little too well. Chandler is nervous about being intimate with Kathy since she used to be Joey's girlfriend; feeling his performance is only adequate, he asks advice from Monica and Rachel; Kathy is very grateful.

The One With All The Rugby: While getting his nails done, Chandler runs into Janice--newly divorced and not willing to let Chandler get away. Chandler invents a story about his company transferring him to Yemen. Although Janice believes him, he's not home free yet... she won't leave his side until he's on the plane and taking off. Monica obsesses about an electrical switch that apparently doesn't do anything; after tests, blueprints, and demolition work, she finally gives up. Ross meets some of Emily's friends and gets invited to play rugby; not wanting to lose face, he insists on playing. When they play too rough despite Emily's secret request that they go easy on him, she helps Ross inflict some pain, too, by giving him pointers on their vulnerabilities.

The One With The Free Porn: Joey and Chandler unexpectedly receive an "adult" movie channel. Monica urges Ross to express his true feelings to Emily before she leaves the country, but things don't go as well as expected--it turns out there's another man. Ross goes to London to prove his love for Emily, but she returns to the states to tell him she's chosen him. Phoebe finds out she's carrying triplets; Frank, Jr. considers dropping out of refrigerator college to get a job; Phoebe tries to come up with ways to make money so he won't have to give up his "dream."

The One With All The Wedding Dresses: Joey's snoring forces Chandler to insist he go to a sleep clinic; while accompanying Joey at the clinic, Chandler meets (and begins dating) Marjorie, who talks in her sleep. Ross tries to talk with Rachel about her feelings, but she just pretends she's fine. However, while feeling kind of desperate she tries to move way too fast with Joshua and ends up scaring him off. Monica picks up Emily's wedding dress for her, and finds she just can't resist wearing it... a lot. Phoebe and Rachel catch the spirit as well, and soon they're all wearing white. Ross and Emily set a wedding date just one month away. Rachel talks with Monica and Phoebe about her unresolved feelings for Ross.

The One With The Worst Best Man Ever: Phoebe suffers from a small bladder, mood swings, kicking babies, false labor, and other pregnancy woes. Ross has to choose whether Joey or Chandler will be his best man; he chooses Joey, which seems okay until after the bachelor party when the wedding ring is missing. Believing the stripper (whom Joey slept with) took it, they mistakenly confront her; however, it turns out it was taken by a different bird. Monica and Rachel plan a baby shower for Phoebe, but decide not to give her baby-stuff because she won't be keeping the babies; unfortunately, this plan doesn't go over very well. - 29772

I grew up in Brooklyn, but moved to Los Angeles to make it in show business. I was an actor, writer and acting teacher. I have worked with Rosemarie Clooney, George Clooney, Michael Caine, Maggie Smith, Delta Burke, Angie Dickerson, Kevin Costner, Steven Segal, Barbi Benton, Didi Conn, and McLean Stevenson among others. I worked in the Comedy Store and Improv for years, and wrote the play The Biz with George Clooney acting in it. I was a staff writer for the HBO series Kilroy, produced by Clooney and I wrote for the show Charles In Charge.

I actually got in the rug business when the acting business got slow and I started working in the Swap Meet. I was not interested in being a starving actor. I was just trying to make a little money to get me through the month but when I saw what this guy was making selling rugs, I decided I would give this a shot on my own. I kept at it all the time I was still acting. I even sold rugs when I worked on the set to make more money. I showed up at Paramount with my rug truck when I was writing for George Clooney and sold rugs during my lunch break.

So the passion for selling rugs continued to gain momentum and I began selling on street corners. You might say, I took my show on the road. The acting business has gotten a lot tougher since then, with more and more runaway production, low budget and even practically no budget contracts, and a great decrease in dramatic prime time network programming. The acting work was not steady and I never felt I was going to ever make it to stardom.

Then I met a great mentor, Sol. He was an old school guy who was totally self made and he saw something in me that reminded him of himself and although we were 30 years different in age we struck up a strong relationship and he taught me all about seat covers. He owned a sheepskin tannery in South America and was the first to manufacture sheepskin seat covers. I began selling those on street corners and bought two homes in Santa Monica. I decided this was just in my blood. My great grandparents were fruit peddlers back in Russia and before that I had relatives doing this when Moses went up to get the Ten Commandments and found the Burning Bush.

So after spending 20 years in the entertainment business I started selling high end area rugs to the Hollywood Trade, and have supplied rugs for movies produced by Mel Brooks, Kevin Costner's Dancing with Wolves, Michael Mann's movie Heat, Chers Malibu home, Raquel Welch, Robert Blake, Rosemarie Clooney, Snoop Dog, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top and many more local celebrities.

Iron Mike Tyson May Be Headed Back To Jail

Was I surprised when I got the latest press release about Mike Tyson... Nope! It would appear that his fortune and fame has been a gift and a curse. It would seem that the once heavyweight champ of the world had another bout with a photographer at the Los Angeles International Airport. This little incident could possibly send the champ back to prison because of a probation violation.

We put a call into the Maricopa County probation office and although the individual refused to give there name they did tell us that the probation official's office will start court proceedings to determine if Tyson did or didn't violate his parole.

According to the sources on the scene, both Tyson and the photographer Tony Echeverria both claimed that struck during an altercation. Reports say that only the photographer was treated for minor injuries. Another source told Jackin4Beats Magazine that the photographer suffered from a minor cut to his forehead. We were told that the man was treated and released from the hospital.

After the altercation both men were held by airport police on suspicion of a misdemeanor battery, but were released after questioning. We were told that the fate of both men will rest upon the city attorney who will ultimately decide whether to file charges or not.

Most Mike Tyson fans will remember that the former heavyweight champ is currently on probation after he pleaded guilty to a cocaine possession and driving under the influence charge, two years ago in Arizona.

I love the fact that our readers seem to be everywhere around the world. I first heard about this incident via a text message sent to me by one of our readers. The message noted that Tyson was extremely corporative with airport police, and after the police took the report they let Tyson continue his trip.

According to Tammy Brook, Tyson's spokeswoman, the former heavyweight champ was traveling with his wife and 10 month old baby when he was attacked by an overly aggressive paparazzi.

Mrs. Brooks went on to say that Mike was just acting in self defense as any father protecting his child would.

Echeverria's camera was booked as evidence and police also were checking if there was any surveillance video of the incident.

The One Where Ross Hugs Rachel: Ross hasn't gotten the annulment yet... but he has gotten a little crazy. It seems the idea of a 3rd failed marriage has pushed him over the deep end. Phoebe (and her panel of women) decide Ross is still in love with Rachel. Ross is in such denial about this that to prove them wrong he goes to his lawyer (Russell) to take care of the annulment... but finds that it's more complicated than expected, and Rachel will have to be told the truth. Chandler and Monica break the news of their live-in plans, first with Joey (who is happy for them, but sad to be losing Chandler) and then to Rachel (who doesn't seem to have much of a reaction at all... until she takes it seriously). Rachel is so sad that Ross still can't tell her the truth. Phoebe foretells the future marriages of the entire group.

The One With Joey's Porsche: Rachel and Ross go to a judge to get their annulment, but they air too much dirty laundry. The judge decides they don't qualify for an annulment, so they go to Ross's lawyer for a divorce. Ross makes it pretty obvious that he still loves Rachel. Rachel reveals that it was her drunken idea to get married. Joey finds the keys to someone's Porsche. He decides to wait by the car until the owner shows up. He gets mistaken for the owner, and likes the attention he gets so much that even after the owner takes the car away, he keeps up the charade. Phoebe, Monica and Chandler take care of Frank and Alice's babies. Chandler gets a toy stuck in his throat and Monica takes him to the doctor. Phoebe has to take care of the babies by herself.

The One Where Phoebe Runs: Rachel and Phoebe, new roommates, decide to run together in the park each day. Phoebe's weird running style embarrasses Rachel. Joey gets a beautiful new roommate (Janine) and struggles to avoid flirting with her. He thinks she's interested in him, so he seeks advice from Ross and Chandler on how they "repel women." Chandler cleans his and Monica's apartment, but afterwards can't remember where everything goes. He tries to keep Monica out of the apartment while he figures out what to do.

The One With The Routine: Janine gets highered to dance at the pre-taping of Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve; she invites Joey, Monica, and Ross to come along. This is a dream come true for Ross and Monica, but they have a hard time getting on camera, because they aren't as good as they think they are. Joey hopes to kiss Janine at "fake midnight." Rachel and Phoebe convince Chandler to help them search for the Christmas presents Monica is giving them.

The One That Could Have Been, part 1: Ross and Rachel, both in unhappy marriages, run into each other on the street after not seeing each other for years. Ross brings Rachel to Central Perk to see Monica; Rachel quickly swoons over Joey, aka Dr. Drake Ramoray. Monica is dating the very boring Dr. Roger. Chandler is unemployed, but takes a job as Joey's assistant, which doesn't work out very well; but he is inspired by the experience and sells his first story to Archie Comics. Phoebe is ruthless and greedy, and has a heart attack after losing- million dollars on the stock market. While she's in the hospital, Ross finds out she's fired, but he doesn't dare tell her, fearing it will cause another heart attack. Ross suggests to Carol that they spice up their non-existant sex life. Carol doesn't like any of his ideas... except having a threesome. Rachel decides to have a fling with Joey. Monica reveals she's still a virgin.

The One Where Ross Dates a Student: Flattery in a teacher evaluation leads to Ross dating one of his students (Elizabeth). He finds out he could get fired, but the forbidden nature of the relationship makes Elizabeth want it even more. An old friend of Chandler's (Dana) is Directing an Al Pacino movie, and Joey asks Chandler to get him an audition. Monica is jealous of the time Chandler spends with Dana. A fire in Phoebe and Rachel's apartment means they'll have to stay with their friends for a few weeks--one at Monica's and one at Joey's. At first Monica's apartment seems to be the accomodation of choice, but it soon becomes clear that Joey's is the place to be.

The One With Mac & C.H.E.E.S.E.: Joey auditions for a new TV show and makes the call-back list; but when the call-back time gets changed, Chandler neglects to give Joey the message. Chandler has a chance to redeem himself when he takes a message that the part is available again. Phoebe and Ross help Joey run his lines, and they become convinced that they're great actors. Monica doesn't like the chick and the duck. We see flashbacks to earlier episodes demonstrating: Joey's acting; the pressure everyone feels at work; Chandler's mistakes; Joey's mistakes; friends fighting and making up; Chandler and Joey hugging.

The One With The Ring: Chandler picks out an engagement ring for Monica, with Phoebe's help. Unfortunately, someone else buys the ring before Chandler has a chance to. He has to convince the other buyer to trade rings with him. Meanwhile, Joey and Ross are feeling brushed-off because Chandler isn't hanging out with them. Phoebe makes matters worse by suggesting that Chandler is angry with them. Rachel tries to get Paul to open up and express his feelings. Redshirt freshman quarterback B.J. Daniels threw for three touchdowns and the South Florida Bulls used a tenacious defensive effort to upset visiting West Virginia 30-19 on Friday night. Daniels threw for 232 yards and rushed for 104, compiling more yardage individually than West Virginia amassed as a team. Both teams are now 6-2 on the season.

College football betting aficionados who took the Bulls as +3 home underdogs cashed their tickets with the outright victory. Despite their 6-2 record, West Virginia dropped to 2-5 against the spread in their lined games this season while South Florida evened their college football pointspread record at 3-3 in their lined contests.

Daniels had this rebuke for his team's doubters after the victory:

"I guess a lot of people doubted us and thought we were going to go down the same patch we did the last two years. That was a lot of garbage that our team didn't listen to."

The Bulls' defense limited West Virginia running back Noel Devine to just 42 yards-well under his-0 per game average. South Florida coach Jim Leavitt talked about his team's priority of stopping Devine:

"We talked a lot about him. We didn't want to let him get outside -- we wanted to keep him hemmed up inside. ... He's such a great back. If he gets out, he's gone."
